I carry around a folder and a paper notebook at work as I shuttle between meetings.  I find that embarrassing since this is the 21st century, I'm a technologist and I work at a technology company yet still rely on a very old school way of taking notes.  I would love a device that let's me write notes naturally (I don't need handwriting recognition) and have them easily accessible with the rest of my electronic information. I've thought of carrying a laptop computer around but typing notes during a meeting can be very distracting and come across like you're not paying attention and doing other work.  Yes there are tablet PCs but these are too bulky, take too long to start up and generally overserve the job.  I've considered a digital pen like Livescribe but that would still require me to carry a laptop with me to see old notes. Google introduced the Nexus One today.  Is this an iPhone killer?  It certainly has better technical specs - with a 1GHz processor, a 4GB micro-SD card (expandable to 32GB),  and the Android 2.1 OS that supports muti-tasking of applications.  It has a better screen, a camera, and a USB port (which the iPhone lacks).  A big deal is being made of the Nexus being "unlocked and loaded", that is, you can buy the device without a long term contract and you're not limited to an app store to load applications.  I believe the steep price for the unlocked phone ($530) and the fact it only supports TMobile's 3G data services makes this all a moot point.  I also think the phone's usability vs. the iPhone will be more important than it's technical prowess.  Apple has established a fairly dominant position and even the very laudable Palm Pre has yet to make a dent.  As consumers, we all win having more choices with yet another player taking on the iPhone...

The US Patent and Trademark Office granted patent number 7,624,053 on November 24, 2009 for our invention entitled, “ EXPORTABLE REPORT TEMPLATES ”.  Exportable report templates are a feature in QuickBooks that makes it easy for accountants to share reports with their clients.

Back in June, I wrote about the exciting Intuit Partner Platform , a vibrant ecosystem that connects large and small developers with small business customers.  Intuit will also be developing IPP applications ourselves and we just announced the release of Intuit Customer Manager , a great solution for small businesses to organize their front office operations and manage all their customer relationships in one place.  Because Customer Manger is an online offering, you can access you customer information from anywhere you have web access.  Because it is an IPP application, it integrates seamlessly with QuickBooks.  Check out why thousands of businesses have already adopted Customer Manager.

  Recently I’ve gotten a few questions on the Intuit Christian Action Network (ICAN) so I thought I’d fill you in. Intuit believes that having a diverse and inclusive workplace is a strategic advantage. Having a diverse and inclusive work environment means fostering a culture that enables all employees to bring their whole selves to work. We use the iceberg metaphor to describe our whole selves – yes there are the obvious visible traits like race and gender; but below the surface are much more profound elements of who we are.
